TV Pilot Proof-of-Concept – "The Warmth Below"

Hello, my name is Steven Jael Filkey, a director and filmmaker based in Northern California, and founder of 27 Films LLC. Beginning May 7th, we will be producing a proof-of-concept pilot titled "The Warmth Below". This project serves as the first installment in a larger anthology series, with each story standing on its own while contributing to a broader thematic exploration.

About the Project: "The Warmth Below" explores grief and the ways it shapes the direction of our lives. Loss is something everyone experiences, but what follows is never the same. Some people process it, carrying both the good and the bad forward in a way that allows them to grow. Others search for something to fill the space that’s been left behind, often losing themselves in the process. Grounded in real emotional experiences, this story draws from those contrasts. It is less about a single event, and more about the lasting weight it leaves behind—how it quietly influences behavior, choices, and identity over time. In developing this project, I’ve been influenced by real-life experiences and the people I’ve seen move through grief in very different ways—some finding a path forward, others remaining caught in it.
